Too Busy To Create?

“The Creative Breakthroughs Technique” Makes it Easy

Are you extremely busy and have NO TIME to create anymore?
Do you feel like the creative side of you has all but disappeared
and you can’t figure out how to get it back?
Are you pining to make things but need help getting started?

When you’re creating, you truly feel like yourself–everything seems to open up and you feel freer and more connected to the people you love and the world around you.

The act of creating and being artistic fulfills you in a way that nothing else does. That’s why it can feel so frustrating to feel stuck or empty of creativity when you know how much it gives you and how great you feel when you’re doing it.

What may have felt like a temporary break from your creativity now feels like it might be permanent–or such a fight to get back into your life again.

Gah! So much energy. It can seem too hard to summon it up all on your own.

Well, I’ve got good news. You don’t have to summon up that energy all by yourself anymore. Help is on the way!

What These Great Workshops Are Really Like!

The Solution

I started The Creative Breakthroughs Technique Workshop because, as an artist myself, I deeply understand how it feels when your creative, artistic self feels sidelined or invisible.

The Creative Breakthroughs Technique is a collage workshop designed to provide a supportive, fun, art adventure that gets you back to your creativity without your having to do any preparation, buy supplies or self-motivate.

Attending The Creative Breakthroughs Technique Workshop not only helps you break out of a rut in a single evening, but you can actually have FUN while getting back that fulfillment from creativity you miss so much.

  • You don’t need to make space, have ideas, or be experienced.
  • It’s okay if you feel stuck or haven’t made anything in ages–you’ll be having fun in no time.
  • Jackson Street Studios is a spacious light-filled studio with an open, welcoming atmosphere.
  • This simple but effective technique guides and supports you through creating a collage while simultaneously freeing you to express yourself and experiment.
  • The Creative Breakthroughs technique is liberating because there’s just enough structure to keep your momentum going (and stop the self-censorship) while still allowing you the freedom to apply your own unique interpretation to each step in the process.
  • The benefits spill over into the rest of your life because it starts you generating new ideas and inspiring yourself again–creating a new momentum of creativity that builds on itself every time you participate.
  • The monthly Creative Breakthroughs Technique Workshops can become a wonderful pillar of support for fulfilling your creative needs because they provide
    • A chance to make friends with other arty people
    • An opportunity to talk and think about art and the creative process
    • An easy way to set aside much needed time in your busy life to actually begin creating again without having to be organized or prepared.

Weaving creativity back into your life again on a regular basis doesn’t have to be hard or emotionally heavy. It can be fun, relaxing, and fulfilling.

Art is a party at the Creative Breakthrough Technique Workshop–complete with jazzy music and great refreshments.
Feedback About the Workshop:

“I just wanted to say thank you for a wonderful workshop yesterday.  It was a great group of people, and you created such a welcoming and productive atmosphere. The evening brought back a lot of memories of creative experiences, Working on the techniques last night reminded me of how much I used to enjoy needlework . . . texture and color and filling space.  I think that working on a computer all day is one factor keeping me from expressing myself creatively.

What I liked best was taking rubbings from the fabric stamps, thinking about the yarn, and using the paints.  That, and of course being with such a wonderful group of people. You really inspired me. Driving in the city and staying up late are both things I’m not very good at, and I was having such a good time I didn’t even notice how quickly the evening passed.”

More Feedback about The Creative Breakthroughs Technique Workshop

… I was a bit wary at the beginning…I love looking at art–but I thought “I can’t do that.” I looked at Sarah’s studio full of her art and the best art supplies and materials and could not envision how I could make sense of it all.

Sarah’s process was liberating and empowering. Step by step she led us through the elements of making a collage, slowly a layered, complex and unique work of art emerged for all of us. All the time we enjoyed the company of old and new friends. Now I have a framed work of art that each member of my family wants to hang in their room! I think, however, it belongs best in my office.

How it Works

When you arrive, you can check out the studio as you sip a glass of wine or cappuccino and enjoy a few snacks.

Once everyone has arrived, I’ll give an overview of the studio so everyone knows where things are and how they work along with a demo of how to use certain kinds of tools and supplies to minimize waste and maximize everyone’s chance to enjoy all the supplies and equipment.

I’ll also give a different technique demo at the beginning of each workshop so you can learn something new that you might want to incorporate into your collages.

Everyone will get a few pieces of 5″ x 7″ and 8″ x 10″ high quality art paper or board to get started and the evening always begins with creating backgrounds. (We usually work on a few pieces at once, it takes the pressure off and allows for people to work at different paces.)

After that, I’ll draw collage technique options out of a “magic hat” and call out a technique.

Everyone will then proceed to work on that technique as they interpret it. I will provide lots of suggestions and ways to consider what that means.

When it feels like the majority of the group is ready, I will call out the next technique, share suggestions, etc. (If you’re not done, the techniques will be listed on a board so you can follow along when you’re ready.)

This will continue for about 8-10 techniques, and then at the end, there will be an opportunity to make any additions or changes as you see fit.

If you need to dry your piece before you take it home or as you work on it, we’ll have a few hair dryers available to speed things up.

At the end of the session, we’ll all share our work and see how we each interpreted the technique call-out differently. This is a great chance to connect as a group and ask each other questions. But that’s not all.

Making it Real

At the end of the evening, everyone gets a chance to mat their favorite piece of the evening to take home with them.

Sometimes I think this is my favorite part!

What a difference a mat can make.

It’s an important step in honoring yourself as an artist and it really allows your work to shine! Your work feels finished, respected, and is ready to frame. So exciting. So affirming. I love it.

The Fabulous Follow-Up that Really Helps You Take Your Creating to the Next Level

One more fabulous thing–because I really want you to feel empowered to start making things again:

(And okay, maybe this is my favorite part.)

To help nurture the momentum we created at the fun and fulfilling Creative Breakthroughs Technique Workshop, I also provide a crucial, half hour, one-on-one Creative Breakthroughs Coaching Session over the phone about your art-making or creative process in the week or so after the workshop.

Having this kind of heart-centered conversation focused on your own creative hopes and plans is deeply nourishing and really helps you stay connected to your creative self. We’ll also process your progress and challenges and strategize personalized ways to keep up your creativity. It feels good. And it can be REALLY powerful.
